June 24, 2010

What a grand time we have had over the past 10 days.  Bill & I took our grandson Matthew to Mt. Rushmore for his 13th birthday.  It was quite a trip and one that we will cherish and remember for quite a long time. Mt Rushmore and the carvings of our 4 Presidents was absolutley awesome.  I cannot put into words the feeling one has when looking upon this monument; pictures do not do it justice.  After we left Mt Rushmore, we travelled quite a distance through Custer State Park, but not quite all 71,000 acres of it before we found the buffalo, and when we did...oh boy, there were hundreds of them...on the road, along the side of the road, everywhere you looked there were buffalo!  Just what Matthew wanted to see; was he ever excited!

Then onto Chief Crazyhorse Memorial.  I don't know how they will ever get him done.  They have been working on this since 1948 and this is as far as they are, but is he going to be huge and magnificent!  Our weather during the day was good...a bit windy at times but sunny and warm.  We were indeed blessed.  We stayed in Hill City about 10 miles from all the activities.  We brought home many wonderful laughs, memories, and many stories to tell!

Now onto what is going on here at Forget-Me-Not, LLC.  If you haven't looked at the website lately, be sure to take a peek because we have quite a few things going on there!  Tonner's Cami & Jon Redhead and Jonquil have finally arrived; what beauties they are too!  The redhead's hair is more auburn in color, and what a beautiful shade it is too!

On the Carol Wilson pages, there are some luscious new boxed die cut notes, all embossed with glitter or foil, sure to catch your eye.  They are quite lovely, don't you agree?  Along with the boxed die cut notes, there are also 4 new mini portfolio designs, one of which is a quilt design, sure to delight our quilters.

I would love to hear from you, so stay in touch and check in often.
My Best Regards,
Forget-Me-Not, LLC

June2010

Thanks for stopping by to visit me in Door County Wisconsin. We love our little part of the country. If you don’t know where Door County is, we are located about 3 ½ hours north of Milwaukee on a peninsula between Lake Michigan and Green Bay. We are nestled snuggly in a little community called ‘Fish Creek’…a wonderful place to visit and a very special place to call home. We have many visitors come to Door County every year. Many times friends have said, “My goodness Suzanne, this is a hidden treasure .…a heavenly spot and not dissimilar to Cape Cod!.” We have 5 of the most beautiful state parks imaginable. Treat yourself to a leisurely bike ride through Peninsula State Park along Green Bay and you will come upon one of the ten lighthouses located here. Additionally, Door County and the Arts are like a marriage made in heaven. Around the 250 miles of shoreline we have many quaint towns and little villages located throughout the Peninsula. With all the shoreline and the area’s natural beauty, artists are drawn to this area where they find they are greatly inspired and easily able to nurture their creativity.

I also love the arts, being involved in them myself, more so in the world of the ‘NeedleArts’. I learned to sew at a very young age from my dear grandmother who first taught me to ‘stitch a seam’ in making a skirt for my doll. And of course, it went from there! She was my teacher and inspiration! In the world of NeedleArts, just about all types of detailed embroidery, including hardanger, bring me great joy, as well as relaxation. You can see from the picture that I spend a fair amount of time in embroidery, as this is just a sampling. These beautiful little ‘pillows’ are made of fine linen and trimmed in fine laces, ribbons and/or other gorgeous trims. Each one is finished with a beautiful crystal heart or other decorative crystal. They are lovingly filled with lavender or ‘forget-me-not’ potpourri and are available for purchase starting at $124.99. Those shown do not have any ‘filling’ in them as I like to fill them when they are packaged for shipping. They are each special and take many months to complete. If interested, just e-mail me for the detailed information.

I will be updating you often so stay ‘tuned in’ for updates and more information about Fish Creek, our website, and anything else that may come along, including any special surprise that might be fun and of interest.
